Team Lakay’s Carlos Alvarez will try to pick – up from where he left tomorrow evening and get back to the winning track. Alvarez will square off with Mizra Aliev in a featherweight MMA match as part of ONE Friday Fights 86 card at the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, November 8.
After their supposed meet – up earlier this year got rescheduled, Alvarez sees the postponement on a positive note, hoping to get back to his winning ways after getting stopped in his last bout in December last year yielding to Nachyn Sat, snapping his three-fight win streak in Asia’s largest MMA promotions.
With the fight back on track, Alvarez refocused his training and tactical adjustments, eager to display his skills and intensity that have made him a fan favorite.
“The Limitless” earlier said, he sees no problem in taking more than 10 months of inaction, as he was able to prepare longer.
Alvarez had his debut in April last year, scoring a second – round TKO of Reza Abasi, followed it up with a second-round submission of Sadegh Ghasemi, then submitted Title Chai in October last year, before his streak got ended by Sat.
While Alvarez may have the advantage when it comes to experience, Aliev’s two fight win streak is no joke, stopping his two opponents in just below 55 seconds based on the record compiled by Sherdog.com.
Alvarez’ bout with Aliev presents a crucial challenge and another tough test with the Russian fighter displaying a well – rounded skill and aggressive approach.
A win by Alvarez will put him on the cusp of possibly securing a One Championship contract, a feat earlier secured by his training partner at Team Lakay, Carlo Bumina-ang.
The main event will see two-time Lumpinee Stadium Muay Thai World Champion Kompet Fairtex square off with Chartpayak Saksatoon in a 126-pound Muay Thai matchup, and both men are riding a wave of momentum.
