Team Lakay, the premier martial arts team based in Benguet, has taken a significant step forward through a partnership with MS Integrity Group Corporation.
On Sunday, September 22, 2024, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed, marking the official founding of the Team Lakay Exodus Foundation. The partnership extends beyond sports, encompassing a broad range of initiatives, including medical, agricultural, and educational efforts, in addition to sports clinics and missions.
Coach Mark Sangiao said the partnership will open new doors for Team Lakay athletes, especially with the planned exchange program.
Under the new partnership, athletes from Team Lakay will have the chance to travel to the United States for specialized training, which will expose them to new techniques, training methodologies, and competitive experiences in the international arena.
This could significantly raise their level of performance, positioning them to compete on the global stage more effectively.
Likewise, athletes from the US will come to the Philippines to train with Team Lakay, benefiting from the unique approach that has produced world champions in the mixed martial arts (MMA) scene.
Aside from enhancing individual athletic performance, the new partnership will also integrate programs in the medical and educational fields, which aims to develop the athletes holistically.
Under the agreement, both parties will given access to state of the art healthcare that will ensure athletes to remain in peak condition, while educational and leadership training opportunities will help them build skills and knowledge that can sustain them outside the ring.
“This partnership is a game-changer, not just for the athletes but for the entire community,” added Sangiao. “We aim to uplift not just the physical abilities of our fighters but also their mental, emotional, and social well-being.”
With the Team Lakay Exodus Foundation, the vision extends far beyond sports, aiming to nurture athletes who are not only champions in the ring but also contributors to society.
Through this collaboration, the foundation will also spearhead agricultural, medical and educational missions that will benefit the Cordillera region, making it a beacon for both sports development and community empowerment.
