BALACBAC, STO.TOMAS, BAGUIO CITY – With the raised fund courtesy of Rotary International District 3730 in Korea through their partnership with the Rotary Club of Baguio Summer Capital (R.I.District 3790), a “Rice Donation Project” for selected persons with disabilities (PWDs) in Balacbac was conducted last September 8th, 2020.
Team Lakay was there to support the project and played “gangsa” (Cordillera’s musical instrument) to start the event as well as to entertain the gathered crowd.
Rotary Chairman Joey Ahn, A Korean national and a resident of Baguio City for the last thirteen years said that various Rotarians and voluntary clubs in Korea are willing to provide assistance to people and places through projects related to health, hunger, literacy etc., especially this time of Covid Pandemic.
“On behalf of our PWDs here in Balacbac, thank you so much to the Rotary Club of Baguio Summer Capital and the Rotary in Korea for extending help. We hope that more blessings and support will come. Our PWDs have needs. I hope more people will reach out,” said Sto Tomas Proper Barangay Chairman, Josephine Balusdan.
Team Lakay Chairman, Mark Sangiao in his short message stressed that during this trying times, it’s very important that we assist each other.
“Uray kastoy ti sitwasyon tayo, adda ladta ti tumulong (Even in this pandemic, there are still people who are willing to help) and we are very happy to be a part of this project,” he added.
The event was concluded with a cheerful photo session of R.I. District 3790 officials and members together with Team Lakay athletes, barangay officials and some of the beneficiaries of the donations.
