Carlo Von Bumina-ang continue to make stride in his martial arts journey earning a gold medal in the Final Championship submission grappling tournament held Saturday, June 28 at SM City in Clark, Pampanga.

Joris Jonker and Jaybee Ban-eg, also of Team Lakay also proved they are a force to reckon with in the competition by winning silvers in their respective divisions.

Bumina-ang, who is on a two fight win streak in ONE Championship, clinched the top prize in the under 80kg intermediate division of the submission-only tournament by edging Franz Mclaren Matias in the finals.

The Team Lakay bantamweight barged into the finals after securing three straight victories, winning over Kurt Wagayan in the first round, followed by a quarterfinal win over Denzel Alipio of Deftac Marikina than edged Survivor Rosenberg in the semifinals.

In the over 80kg intermediate division, Jonker advanced to the finals after defeating Cris Aelis in the semifinals.

Jonker however would yield to Callum Roberts in the finals to secure the silver medal. Ban-eg also reached the finals in the under 80kg professional division.

He earlier submitted Ross Danao of Checkmat PH in the opening round, then defeated Jomar Rush of Hong Kong Fight Club in the quarterfinals and Paolo Tiu of Origins in the semifinals.

Ban-eg would eventually fall against a much experienced Geeno Abalos of Checkmat PH to finish second.

The Final X Championship followed a submission-only format. Matches could only be won via submission, with no points or advantage scoring. If no submission occurred in regulation, bouts proceeded to overtime.
