With a two-fight win streak built on explosive finishing, Carlo Von Bumina-ang is trading pure firepower for defensive grit as he gears up to fight for a spot in the ONE bantamweight rankings.
To secure the win—and honor his motivation as a new father—Bumina-ang and his team are laser-focused on neutralizing the unbeaten Elbek Alyshov, a feared wrestler whose seven submission victories have left no doubt where his greatest threat lies.
Bumina-ang and Alyshov will clash in a bantamweight MMA banger on November 7 at ONE Fight Night 37 on Prime Video. Facing a wrestler and a grappler, Bumina-ang said they are not living any stones unturned during their training with bulk of the camp focusing on how to defend Alyshov’s takedown. “Talagang aggressive siya pag dating sa wrestling at grappling. Halos lahat ng finishes nya ay sa wrestling so yun ang pinaghahandaan namin para maging Maganda ang laban,” added Bumina-ang.
While Bumina-ang is deeply focused on his training, he finds his one – month old baby as an added inspiration in his upcoming bout as he seeks to barge into the five rankings of ONE. “Last month, my first child was born. So this gives me more motivation,” he added.
Bumina-ang is riding on a two-fight win streak in his three appearances as part of the main roster of One Championship when he earned a US $100,000 contract when he finished Chayan Oorzhak in the second round of their scheduled three round under the ONE Friday Fights banner.
His debut however, was forgettable, yielding to Enkh-Orgil Baatarkhuu via a third-round submission. Bumina-aang has since then racked up two victories, against South Korea’s Song Min Jong with a 53 second TKO and Argentina’s Mauro Mastromarini with another finish in the opening round. Alyshov meanwhile is only on his second bout in ONE but has already eight victories, seven of which came via submission.
