With his eyes on the prize, Carlo Von “The Bull” Bumina-ang believes that he’s just one win away from his dream of landing a ONE Championship contract.
And he can inch closer to that goal as he returns to action this 2024 at ONE Friday Fights 50 this Friday at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok. Thailand.
Bumina-ang takes on unbeaten Chinese bantamweight stud Xie Zhipeng looking for his fourth straight victory.
“Hopefully they give me a contract with another win. But more so than the wins, I know they’re looking at my performance before they give me that six figure contract,” he said, well aware of the stakes for him in this match.
“I’m just focused on getting that victory, getting that contract will follow in the future if I continue winning.”
The Team Lakay upstart has been very impressive since his debut in The Home of Martial Arts, winning his last three matches including his last – a two-punch knockout of Ilyas Dursun in just 23 seconds at ONE Friday Fights 44.
But he’s not settling as he knows that there’s a sea of difference between fighting in this stage and being a contracted ONE athlete.
“I always sharpen everything, from my striking, grappling and wrestling so I’m prepared for whoever I face on that stage,” he said, exuding confidence on the training that he has undergone under coach Mark Sangiao.
“Now we’re back to basics. We’re bringing the same habit that they used to have back then, the very reason why they reached those heights. It’s just hard work. When it comes to experience, I believe we have experienced coaches here and now it’s all about hard work.”
