Not expecting anything, Folayang was caught by surprise when he came to know that he will be facing off against an Australian fighter, John Wayne Parr. He was originally scheduled to fight a former UFC athlete but he took the opportunity to accept the offer.
Both legendary athletes are set to fight under the Muay Thai ring. It is in fact a change of pace for Folayang as he is commonly known for his achievements in wushu even before pursuing mixed martial arts.
While his opponent is running on a huge record under his name, Folayang on the other hand is not so different too. With gold medals during the Asian games and even a two-time ONE Lightweight world champion.
Although this would be John Wayne’s farewell fight in the industry, this doesn’t stop both athletes from training twice as hard and preparing for their match.
“I will be fighting him in his territory and doon makikita kung gaano din kalawak or gaano kabilis ‘yong adjustment ko” Folayang said acknowledging his opponent’s strength.
